Primark - exchange without a receipt?

Does anyone know if Primark will exchange without a receipt? I bought a duffle coat for £28 and it doesn't fit properly - annoyingly though, I've lost the receipt. Any replies most gratefully received.

A quick google search found this:Refunds and Exchanges
Our refund and exchange policies are displayed in all of our stores at the customer services desk. A full refund or exchange will be offered to all customers in possession of a valid receipt, provided the merchandise is returned unworn or unused, with the original tags still attached, within 28 days from date of purchase. Refunds will be made according to the method of payment at the time of purchase. Where the purchase was made by a debit or credit card the refund will be made to this card, provided the cardholder is present and in possession of the card otherwise an exchange will be offered. Because of the nature of some products, we do not offer refunds on underwear, jewellery or cosmetics. This list is not exhaustive and does not affect your statutory rights. In the event that you have purchased a faulty item, a refund or exchange will be processed at the customer service desk at your nearest store. Primark does not offer postal exchanges or refunds.
You have no consumer rights with regard to getting an exchange so you will be relying on Primarks own policy (above).⚠ 2014 - COUNTDOWN TO INDEPENDENCE ⚠0 -
If you paid by card and can produce your statement that shows you spent X amount in Primark, you *might* be successful. It's up to them to refuse an exchange though, but still worth a try."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Primark are fine if you don't have a receipt, there was a time when you had to have them but not anymore, you have to exchange though, no refund/gift card.0

I think it might depend then on local areas as none of my local ones will exchange without a receipt. In fact the signs about needing a receipt are now very prominently displayed by the tills.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I went in this afternoon with the coat and luckily they exchanged it without any proof of purchase. I guess as Soolin says it depends on the area.0
