Natwest Rant!!

Hi all,
So I logged on to my sh*twest banking app to check my funds etc and noticed a £6 charged had been applied dated the 6th September. Checked all my statements (I have a bills account with them too) and I wasn't overdrawn on the 6th.
Did some more digging and have now found on my Select Account it says if you use more than £10 of your overdraft it's chargeable.
Now I've had this account for 15 years with a buffer overdraft of £50 (only had this for the last 9 years) which has ALWAYS been free to use.
I'm trying to reclaim my fees from my bank account as I believe I was miss sold my fee account (long story short I went to pay a cheque in a few years back and got hauled into a side room as there was a "problem" with my account and bullied into signing up for a fee account without being made aware of the free account they offer). When I wrote to them I was sent an acknowledgement of my complaint, a rejection of it and told my account would be changed over to the Select account with confirmation to follow. I received a confirmation letter however I didn't receive anything to tell me about the overdraft changing and that it would be chargeable.
I really don't know what they're playing at to be honest and I'm looking for a new bank account now as I've had enough.:mad:
My claim for my fees are with the Ombudsman so I guess it's a case of waiting to hear from them but I needed a rant! Quite tempted to tell them to stick their overdraft when I get paid on the 11th.
If anyone knows of any decent bank accounts for people with less than ideal credit ratings please let me know.

It would not have made any difference if you had a select account you would have still been charged the £6.00 overdraft usage fee if you went overdrawn by more than £10.00.
The charges would not be applied until 21 days after the end of the charging period (or the next business day if this is a Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday).

Rants become less necessary when you read stuff that banks send out to you.0

Sarcastic comments become unnecessary when you read the original post. Nothing was sent out to me. I wasn't aware it was changing until I looked online.£2 Savers Club 2013 number 184 £1,200/however much it takes to fill my jar

Thanks for that. Looking at the date it was posted it was just before my account was changed over to the basic account which may explain why I didn't know about it.
Still not amused though.£2 Savers Club 2013 number 184 £1,200/however much it takes to fill my jar

If you don't want the benefits of the packaged accounts and ask for the fees to be refunded, can you really blame them for having not compared the differences with their "free" account. Your overdraft had no fees as part of the packaged account you rejected, therefore you started attracting the charges relevant to the account you said you wanted.0

You would have been notified of the changes at least twice.
A letter was sent out detailing the changes and this leaflet would have been enclosed in your statement:

unfortunately it may well be a case of beggars can't be choosers...The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

Few people with less than perfect credit can expect to be accepted by First Direct.0 -

Unless they contain lies, such as the letter we received from Natwest telling us that "they would contact us" when they then did not do so. When contacted by me Natwest (grudgingly) sent a written apology.0
