Cash4phones victims - report fraud

Options
I am one of many who have fallen victim to the scam which cash4phones are pulling nationwide.

Their website quotes a price for a "working" mobile phone, yet when they receive the item is id "revalued" due to wear and tear, and a significantly reduced offer made. Should you reject this counter offer, you will be made to pay £8.95 for the return of your phone.

I could not believe that I could be offered £25 instead of the original £62.50 for my fully "working" Blackberry, so instantly entered my card details to pay the £8.95 return fee. My order status on the website was updated to "phone returned" and I still have not had it returned over 2 weeks later. I have rung numerous times, I have emailed numerous times, only to receive false promises of "I'll get a tracking number tomorrow", or "the phone is being despatched tomorrow" - this has been going on for 10 days now and as far as I can see they have obtained my phone by deception, and this is fraudulent.

I have scoured websites to find many similar problems, and the best advice that I have seen is to contact "Fraud Action" (enter it in your search engine) and submit a fraud report, which will generate a Police crime number.

I have done this, and URGE anyone else in a similar situation to do the same IMMEDIATELY!! The more people that raise the issue, the more likely it is to be dealt with effectively.

This company cannot be allowed to continue it's dubious business practices.

Am I right in guessing that they offered you higher prices than other companies?
  • Hmm my only reply is new users who use hideous fonts (FONT=Comic Sans MS) may struggle to get replies as it hurts readers eyes!

Have you nothing better to do? Clearly not!

Yes, they offered a slightly higher price than the other recyclers (I used a recycling comparison site and was redirected from there).

If only I'd known about this beforehand - easy to be wise after the event but on searching "cash4phones" and complaint, or scam, I found loads of unhappy customers, all reporting similar issues.
