Apparently in a disgusting state and will need "completely refurbishing"... does anyone have any experience of hoarding who can tell me what to expect? It will have been emptied of its contents by the time I move in, but is there anything in particular I should be worried about that might not show up in a survey report?…

The previous owners of our house weren't exactly hoarders like the ones you see on TV, but they weren't far off. The house and outbuildings (it's a smallholding) were cleared before we moved in. The main issue we found was that every tiny little bit of maintenance you might do in a house over 10 or 20 years hasn't been done, presumably because nobody ever noticed it needed doing. It's all tiny little jobs taking a couple of hours at most and costing nothing to DIY, it's just that there's an awful lot of them. We've done renovation projects before, but we've never had anywhere near as much "making good" to do.
