Kindle help please

Hi I've recently got some DVDS with books on , a few questions please-do I have to keep reloading the DVDS everty time I want to look for a book or can I create files that keep the books on my computer all the time.
2) Ive downloaded calibre but when I click on one of my dvds folders it doesn't open a list of books it goes straight into calibre with the first one on the list and just puts a message up about a duplicate.
3) How do I transfer my books to calibre please getting them on the kindle and changing ther formats seems quite straight foward- do I have to save my dvds as compressed folders ?

Yes you can create a folder for your books on your pc.
  • As DCFC says, create your own folder.
As an example, open 'My Documents' and create a new folder called eBooks. Then copy and paste the books from the DVD into the eBooks folder.

You have to add your books to the Calibre library. Once you open Calibre, click on 'Add books' on the top left and navigate to your eBooks folder.

Once the books are imported, highlight the ones you want and click on 'Send to device.' Acknowledge any prompts about the books being converted for your device. The books should then transfer.

  • ?Do I have to have winrar and calibre to do this ?

As you mention Winrar it seems likely the files on the dvd have been put in a zip folder rather than just existing in a standard folder. If this is the case then you will need to unzip the folder with something like winrar (the evaluation copy will suffice)

    What you need to do...

1 - create a folder somewhere on your computer that you will be able to easily find later.

2 - if the files on the dvd aren't zipped just right click the folder icon and select 'copy'

3 - navigate to your newly created folder right click it and select 'paste'

the content you selected from your dvd should now be in your new folder.

If your dvd has the folder zipped then double click it - this should open winrar (which will probably try to sell you a full copy) just select to use the evaluation copy.

When the winrar window opens you will have a number of options along the top - you need to select 'extract to'

Another box should now open where you will need to navigate to the folder you created earlier. Click on it and hit ok or select (this is just off the top of my head!)

The content from the dvd should now unzip and copy to your selected folder.

Once you have the contents of your dvd in your new folder you can open Calibre.

I can't remember the exact way to add book to Calibre but I remember it being quite straight forward - I think the option along the top is 'add books' - you then need to navigate to your new folder and select it.

Sorry I can't be more help on this bit but maybe someone else who actually has it on front of them can fill in some blanks...

    :D
