PPI claim Capital One confusion

Options
Hello all

I know there are many threads and discussions re reclaiming but I'm totally confused and a complete noob when it comes to anything like this.

I sent a PPI claim to Capital One last year. As I had heard nothing from them to say where I stood with my claim, I rang them in March of this year and was told that my claim had been refused. I asked for a copy of the letter stating this and as yet have still received nothing to say my claim has been unsuccessful despite numerous phone calls asking for it and being assured that it would be sent to me.
I have however just received an Annual Review Statement from them for PPI (!)

So finally my questions are this.. despite apparently being previously refused, am I able to make a further claim for yet again being charged for PPI I don't want/cancelled? And do I do it on the same PPI complaints form that I downloaded from their website?

Many thanks in advance to anyone that has been in my position or can offer me any advice.. :)

Did you not cancel the PPI, if you didn't, you are actually telling them that you still want it.
Why did you not cancel it if you don't want it.

What reason did you give when you sent in your complaint

Keep pushing them for the letter, even get them to email it to you.

  • Thank you - yes I have cancelled it. I did it last year when I received my Annual PPI statement.. which in turn prompted my claim because, as unbelievable as it might sound, I actually had no idea that I had it :/

The reason I gave in my original complaint was for the pushy sales.. and having so many days to cancel in, which I did at the time.

I've just written a letter to their complaints department asking for a copy of their letter of rejection, to cancel my PPI and how to go about making a further claim.
    We shall see.

    Thanks for your time McKneff

Was this a credit card or a loan.
If a credit card the PPI would have been listed on every statement you received.

I am going on holiday now so cant help any more but let us know how you get on.

You will probably get more posts on here anyway. Good luck,

  • Just seen your reply sorry.

It was a credit card. I went paperless some time ago and don't actually have the card anymore so that I don't spend on it (!) I am one of lifes financial frightmares :/ I'm currently just paying what I can to get rid of it for good.

I have to take responsibility for my part and I realise that it will have been there all along on the statements, but as I don't use the card or recieve paper statements, and just make my monthly payments; I've been totally unaware.

    Again, we shall see.

Thank you once again McKneff.. happy holidays!
