Scottish Power Unifi question

Hi all,

After spending half an hour waiting to speak to SP yesterday and no response to the message yet I thought I'd ask on here and see if anyone knows.
I got the Unifi system a couple of years ago but the tariff is due to end on 31st October and SP are recommending I switch to a fixed tariff. As far as I know as long as I'm a SP customer on any tariff I can continue to access the Unifi website and see my usage, control the sockets etc. I don't need to be on a Unifi tariff again (there's only one or two)?
Can anyone advise or confirm?

  • I'm in exactly the same situation.

I had assumed if i moved to a non unifi tariff i wouldn't be able to access the website.
  • I was under the impression that the unfi website will close on 31st october the email they sent me never mentioned anything about still been able to use after 31st all they said was the home display would still work

I noticed it on the e-mail I received from them that I would no longer have access to the website. Seems like a bit of a waste of the equipment as much of what I liked about it was the ability to do things via the website. If I wanted an energy monitor that was just a display I would have kept the OWL one I had before. Half the benefit of it has been made redundant. I've called Scottish Power and I can go on to the newer Unifi tariff which would actually save me £7 a month. Thing is I might then be sent the kit out again and my old kit would be made redundant as the new kit would be configured for my account. The tariff also includes £36 a year for the unifi system which would be paying for equipment I wouldn't be using so looking into that.

OK, this is most strange. Here's what's happened...
I messaged Scottish Power on Facebook and they told me I would still have access to the website when my Unifi tariff finishes. I called them and they said I had to switch to a newer Unifi tariff of which some of the tariff cost includes getting the Unifi kit again... but is the only way I could continue to use the online service for Unifi.
I merely asked how I could keep the unifi website access and was told it had been raised as a complaint.
I then had a most informative voicemail message telling me I'm on the Unifi tariff and I have the unifi equipment. Without that message I wouldn't have had any idea I received a box with a meter etc in a couple of years ago and how it magicly appeared on the mantlepiece!
I called and went through to complaints and had an e-mail back confirming I'd need to go to the newer Unifi tariff and they would check things further the next week.
Then things went strange. I went onto my online account on Sunday to enter my meter readings and couldn't log in. It asked for my account number and post code and told me my account had been closed and showed my final bill which came in the post on Monday with a cheque for outstanding balance due to follow.
I called them yesterday and they have no idea what happened but will get someone to call me back. Most bizarre, I can only assume it was a mistake?
They wouldn't just drop me as a customer for raising a query/complaint would they? I was told the complaint would stay open until November and I never got angry or threatened to leave or close my account at all?
I'll just have to ring again tomorrow to chase it up I think...
