Old Glasses .... any charities take them?

Hi
I have some old glasses I no longer need (eye sight has changed), are there any charities who take these at all? Wouldn't want to just bin them!
Thanks
Liz

  • In my experience most opticians will take them 'for developing countries'. I don't know which charities they work with.
  • Vision Aid Overseas operate a recycling scheme. They use high st opticians as collection points and you can search on their website for your nearest one.

I agree with the above. Take them to your optician, mine always go to Specsavers

The ompthamology clinic at your nearest NHS hospital will collect them.
  • I have been in opticians and charity shops in the past and some have bins where you can place your old glasses and they send them off for you. Not national chains, usually local independent stores

Specsavers certainly have a bin- the glasses go overseas. In the past I have donated them to Dolland & Aitchison & independent opticians. No need to send to landfill!
