Can I cook these together?

I've got a piece of beef brisket and 4 lamb shanks and I'm wondering whether it's possible to cook these all together in the same pot?
I'd be using virtually the same base ingredients i.e. vegetables, herbs, stock, wine etc and they both need long slow cooking so what do you reckon?
Would save on time and washing up if I could

Hi there
I dont thing i would cook them together...different cooking times might mean some is done and some not...
Do you roast your brisket??? if not...give it a go...i wrap mine up tightly in foil and wack in the oven on about gas 7 for about 1hour - to allow it to colour up..i then drop the gas right down to candle flicker - about 1 and leave it in the oven for a few hours..opening it up to check every so often and draining off the liquid ready to make gravy/dripping...
and i always cook mine the day before as it is easier to cook into nice thin slices when cold..i then put it back in a tin with a bit of the stock, cover with foul and shove back in the oven for about 20 mins when the rest of the dinner is nearly ready...its my favourite beef joint:T :T :T-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Thanks, I've decided to roast it in foil as you suggest and bung it in the oven alongside the lamb shanks. I'll season it with mustard powder and brown it off first as I want it for cold beef salad/sandwiches etc so fingers crossed it will come out lovely!
Many thanks for you suggestion“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
