Beware, NPower Price Comparison
So, I managed to whittle down my price comparison to NPower. A great saving of £170 plus over the year. However, when I looked at how they worked that out, they had used an estimatedlesser usage for both our gas and electricity, despite my giving them the exact amount in kWh, that we have used over the past year.
I think this is very misleading and makes me wonder if all the other companies are doing the same

To be honest this is one of the problems with the sort of forecasts which are now required. Clearly they should have use your reading but if they don't have readings or a years consumption they still need to give an estimate of your annual bill.
It used to irk me a bit when customers in such a scenario would be mad I didn't know their annual consumption for definite, despite they fact they had lived at a property for decades...
I don't think this low medium and high user generic figure helps either...0 -

Hello izmark,
That sounds strange that we have estimated even though you have provided readings. If you want to send over your details and reads to me, I will be happy to take a look into this to check the figures are accurate.
Please send the details to the email address on my profile page.
Thanks

My present provider's "fix" ends 12th Nov. so I did a comparison, using actual annual consumption for g an e. It indicated that I would save £120/annum with nPower with their 12 month fixed tariff. That'll do me, I thought and went through the application/switch process. On completion there was a message, from nPower, advising I'd be saving £2 over the next year with nPower!
Hardly worth it so I cancelled the switch, which was to take effect from my "fix" ending, and renewed with my present supplier for a further 12 month "fix".
nPower's corporation tax (or lack of!) issue and reported billing problems also had a bit of an influence as well.
I didn't really pay much attention to what the o.p. has highlighted during or at the end of the process, only the massive £2 saving. Possibly the reason for the discrepancy?
Or do nPower have a secret price hike in the offing which has been used to reduce the saving from £120 at current prices to £2 using the secret prices.
It didn't make sense either because their unit and daily charge prices were cheaper than my present supplier's both pre 12th Nov. and post 12th Nov.0
