I've been looking for a good online guide for choosing good aesthetic placement of curtain poles....anyone able to point me to anything?
Particularly stumping me are a couple of windows with beautiful architrave around them. We don't want to spoil these architectural details, so presumably need to come outside and above, but how much...too much will look silly, too close will 'cramp' them?

Buy a roll of very cheap wallpaper, cut two oversized lengths, stick them up on the wall using blobs of blutak at the top, then adjust until you find the best layout..................

Is it absolutely essential that you hang curtains. I'd prefer to have them myself, but if I thought a window would look better without I'd look for suitable roman blinds or another alternative.0
