Who can i save with?

Im trying to open a savings account. Easy you might think - wrong!
Ive already got a HSBC savings account which is great if i want to save, but if i want to withdraw money, (which i do occasionally), i have to do it on the 1st of the month so as not to lose interest. So, i what i really want or need, is an easy, or perhaps i should say, easier access account with a good interest rate.
Ive tried to open a cahoot account which was accepted until they wanted ID from me, and it appears that despite having a birth cert, passport, driving licence and various other documents, i dont qualify! The account i want to open is to be in my own name (coz i dont work at the moment so can fill in form R85) but as i dont have any utility bills in my name, or a credit card statement or numerous other 'acceptable' documents,(which have to show my name and address) I cant have an account. (Which does seem a bit strange, especially when you consider i want to SAVE money - im not asking them to lend me any!)
Does anyone know of a savings account that i might be accepted for? I dont mind if its an internet or branch based account, as long as i have a branch locally!
Thanks in advance

Birth certificate is no good but Passport and driving licence are perfect. You dont need a utility bill if you have passport and driving licence.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Sorry, maybe i didnt explain properly:o
They wanted me to provide 2 documents to prove my identity, both documents must show my address: a utility bill in my name less than 3 months old, (well, the only bill in my name is online BT bill - they dont accept print-outs), a bank statement or credit card statement, neither of which i have (both in OH name, although i am the second cardholder on the credit card but my name not on statement.) A mortgage statement less than 6 months old, (mine is dated last oct, issued annually) so thats out of date, although my name is on it. There was another document cant remember what, but i did know that i dont have one! The passport, driving licence and birth cert werent acceptable to them so it appears im unacceptable.:eek:0 -
I had a similar problem when opening a nationwide account for my children. They insisted on a document less than 3 months old with my address on.
They did accept a family allowance notification, which was the only thing I could find.
I'm all online too, but they did say I could get written documentation from my bank. What a faff that would have been.Debbie0 -
Have you tried Icesave?
They may not ask you for anything (as they seem to have other ways of checking you exist) but if they do then it looks as if a copy of both your passport and driving licence will be OK - see link below

Cahoot are just being silly with their requirements then as the passport and driving licence would be fine with anyone else.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
