When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Morning all!
Hope I'm not double posting.
Hooray my pay appeared today instead of Monday (as did OH's student loan). I sat with OH this morning and showed him how all the money gets moved around for the bills etc. He has requested to be more involved with finances, so this is the first time he's literally seen the money being moved. He was completely horrified actually at how quickly it all vanished. He said he felt very bad for me that I wasn't left with very much. I think he forgets that you don't really have a choice over paying the bills!! I never consider it to be my money in the first place and I think that's where he's making his first mistake.
With that in mind, today's plan:
B/L/D from stores. Drinking more of my free coffee. I have already accrued enough packets for the next tin- yum whoopsie croissant for brekkie
Try out new old breadmaker that my friend gave to me after my old one broke - look for manual online. Found it! - bread in now. Will try cooking the loaf in the breadmaker as the pan is a better shape than the old one. Old one made a giant cube loaf so I only used it for mixing the dough.
Find out where to take broken electrical items as our trundle heater is also dead (blew all the fuses in the house!) - not too far away from us. Will drop items in tomorrow as we have to drive past anyway.
Keep crocheting m-i-l's shawl. I'm not happy though, It's much wider than it was supposed to be and my tension isn't especially loose. It was supposed to measure 27.5" wide and it about 37"
Do you guys think this will be too stupidly large? She is a slightly larger lady, but it totally drowns me so far. Any ideas to fix it? Also there is no way I will finish it before Christmas.
Housework - keeping me toasty warm (although it's ROASTING) here today. - bed stripped and clean stuff outside on the line. Oooo here comes the sun out!
Plan a shop for OH's lunches. He has said that he is going to take food from home from now on, but I know for a fact that if he has to either a: think about it or b: get up any earlier, he won't. I have also tried making his lunches before but they were left to rot in the boot of the car. I wonder if it would be better just to budget lunch money for him?
Still didn't nab blu-tack. Will stick tape over the hole instead! - done
Asked m-i-l to pick up a tension rod for me to hang a curtain over the front door. Look online for very thick insulation foam tape too as can see daylight all the way round  - watching some on ebay
That's a good start methinks. Will update through the day.
Picked more ripe tomatoes. Think I will roast them for soup. Garden looks a complete state with squashes trailing, half dead tomato plants, raggedy basil etc. Must tidy up!
Have a good one allLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

Morning! Thanks for starting Carrie
So I am very excited as I got paid from my main job TWO days early!
And I got my tax back that I over paid for having two jobs it looks like.
(either that or I have had a hefty pay increase :rotfl: )
Must install some discipline - after a month of being skint to being paid twice in 2 days will be hard but I hope I have learned I CAN live off less than I earn!
So my list:
- Pay huge phone bill from texting abroad done
- Pay CC off in full! they wont accept my payment will call when offices open using alternative number from sayno..
- hopefully pay off some OD when the bank opens
-Find out from bank why I am 10.67 overdrawn as of this morning on my bill account when I havent used it since 20/9
- making pancakes for me and BF for breakky
- something from home for lunch
- Enchiladas for dinner. BF bought pudding
- stay in and do work so I can relax tomorrow.
- buy printer ink from curries as its cheapest, cheeky free lift with BF on his way to work.
- go to town buy ONE new outfit from work for less than £20 and nothing else- seen some things in Primarni /HM
- visit savers for cleaning products buy only from list
- clean kitchen & bathroom
- Nag Bf to hoover & actually empty hoover
-budget for bills and transfer to bill account
- meal plan for next week including work lunches.
- ring blood donation people and find out why they have booked me to donate somewhere I cant get to rather than my usual place.
Think thats it. Pretty long today. Feeling excited to get back on track financially! Have a great day everyone!!Paying it all off in 2017:

Thanks ally. How thick was your stuff? I don't think that the standard 7mm stuff is going to be thick enough (says a lot about our door...). The stuff on ebay is 12mm.LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

Morning awwww the weekend :j and I managed to get a lay in. Feel soooooooo good for it! Perni sadly no I don't get over time. I can take 1 day back a month for time in lieu. The industry work in I just have to get the job done. As a rule I generally will only work an hour (sometimes 1 1/2hrs) overtime a day. But October is a month where I have to do 11 mid term appraisals, set the budgets for all my schemes, review last years budgets with all residents at my 11 schemes as well as managing my team and doing my job. Just need to knuckle down till the end of the month!
