Which bank account has the quickest set up time?

Hello,

Basically i need to set up a dead basic account to cash some cheques, however i need it to be set up ASAP. Does anyone had an idea who would be able to set up an active account the quickest that'd allow me to cash them in and withdraw the money when they've cleared? My mate said halifax got him his account set up including the card in a few days, whereas Nationwide apparently take 2 weeks?

Thanks

If not, would there be any other way to cash in these cheques in without a bank account? They have payee account only on them however?

Just go into a branch ... you can generally open an account and pay in the cheques straight away.
