Advice Please For An Ipod And Docking Station

Hi my husband is retiring in September and I want to give him a really special present to thank him for working so hard for our family.

I want to get him an Ipod and docking station.
Advice please. Thats all I know-- what I want to get him.

How do I choose I am not the slightest bit techy. I don't mind pushing the boat out as I would like to get a system with really good quality sound etc. So with this in mind is it possible to save a few pennies as well.

A friend recommended a Bose docking station -- any views

Thanks

I'm always suspicious of companies like Bose who never mention prices in their adverts, they do sell them on QVC (nuff said) they appear overpriced for what they are. Rant over.
I bought a JBL ONStage 2 from Tescos and for its size the sound it produces is very good, its mains driven and includes a small RF remote to drive the i-pod.

    Amazon have them here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/JBL-OnStage-II-ON-Stage/dp/B000I6DMGU

As the I-pod is a present then you could get Apple to engrave it for you for free via their store.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Bose would probably be pretty pricey but it would be a quality unit.

Why not nip into John Lewis or Comet or something just to have a look and bend the ear of the sales guy. They will know what is best and maybe that is not always the most expensive. Know what I mean!!

I have a friend who has the bose and it is undoubtedly superb quality.

Think it cost about £250 - then you have your ipod on top of that.

As superjaggybunnet says a trip to a sensible store where people know things of which they speak is a good starting place.
We all evolve - get on with it
