Do I have to become a stalker (joking!)

Evening all, I read posts on here regularly and as I am at a loss I thought I would give you a whirl for any advice you may have. I've been paying CSA for many MANY moons, since 1998 in fact - non stop, never had to be chased. Sadly my relationship with my kids is non-existent (there are three) two of whom are up and I've stopped paying for. They all think I'm a total A.H. and obviously have been sheltered from the fact that their mum was the one who had fun while I was earning a crust - obviously of no importance here. As a result of having no contact I've always struggled to find out what they are doing and in fact continued to pay for one until it turned out that he was doing an HND at college and I had paid all the way through his HNC year. That was of no interest to the CSA as we all know the recalculation only sticks from the time you let them know of a change.
SO, the last "child" is now nearly 18 and has left school for college. Of course college provides all sorts of courses some of which still qualify for CHB and therefore CSA and some of which are higher education courses. Now let me make this clear, if she still qualifies I have absolutely no problem paying for her, never have. But, the PWC continued to claim previously even though she must have known that she was not entitled to it so is there any way that I personally can find out what course she is on so that I can go to the CSA with proof? Stalking is not an option!
I know that I could phone the CSA up and tell them this sad story, but she has had no problem lying to them in the past.
Thanks for reading my dirge and for any light you can shine on the problem

once the child is no longer in full time education the mum can't claim family allowance, once that stops so does your csa payments, you can call the csa and they can run a check0

But nothing happens very quickly at the CSA when its the nrp who reports a change like this.We reported in Feb 2013 then 3 more times in the year but still waiting !!0

Thanks very much for those replies. Cally did you have proof of the changes that had occurred? Last year when I called the CSA about the other kid's course I knew which one it was and when he had started because I met someone purely by chance who knew about it. The CSA were quick at that point and phoned her up and asked her. But they would have been able to check with the college if they needed to. That's why I would like to be able to tell them all I can when I phone them. Hope you are in line for a backdated refund Cally!0

Phone us and quote this exact statement.
"Id like a child benefit check completed and a callback in 5 days to advise me it has been done, and the results."
Dont accept anything else, that caseworker will send the check off after that call if a callback request is mentioned, therefore you wont have to wait long. It can take minuetes to check CHB, can also take days, so allow 5 days for us to do the check, youll have your answer then.0 -
Thnaks Baldiebain & others .. we wont hold our breath! They said the pwc was claiming ch/ben ,we said she shouldn't be !So we put in for a Ch of circumstances but it wasn't allowed. CSA aren't interested in helping nrp's in my opinion. We can prove from the college that neither of them have attended at all this year but they aren't interested in seeing the evidence as the pwc was claiming & that's all they look into! Very wrong.. it's a licence condoning fraudulent behaviour. If she has to pay all the tax credits back she should be made to pay us back too.0

cally we cannot change child benefit systems, even if we wanted to, you would have to raise it with them and not use unfortunatly.0

That's definately worth a punt Caseworker so I'll give it a go. Cally I really feel for you, anyone, on either side, who has to be part of the CSA regime has a list of issues, long or short, that lead to hair tearing frustration. You are absolutely right, if she was committing financial fraud of any other kind she would be in serious trouble and maybe that's the answer - if a person claims CSA they are not entitled to then the full weight of the law should be levied on them and the monies paid should be paid back in the same way as it has to be paid to other agencies such as the benefits agency. Don't get me wrong I'm not just getting at the PWC, Mrs Baldiebain (a saint of a woman with endless patience for the last 10 years) has a pal who has been chasing an ex for payment, the range of excuses he has come up with would win the booker prize any year and I have no sympathy because I have paid my way and done my best. Mrs Baldiebain has had to factor it all into the budget and a lot of the time my ex has had more from my wages than we have and frankly I doubt if the kids had the benefit at any point. I wish I had an answer, in the case of Mrs B's pal the ex finally had a wage arrest but she's still fighting for what she is owed and on the flip side you only have to look on here for the injustice faced by NRPs to fill you with rage!
Mind you, I have a laugh when politicians etc suggest setting an amicable agreement in place - if everyone who split up could reach an "amicable agreement" the CSA switchboard could be manned by one part timer!0 -
Just a quick update, phoned on Monday as suggested - awaiting outcome!0

let me know how it goes0 -
Ok so apparently she is still in receipt of CHB, and that may be true so I'll just have to accept that until I can find out otherwise.
Just hope that the "PWC" doesn't request a revenge review, if I have to pay out any more we'll all have to move in with her!
Many thanks once again.0
