Hi,Am I right in saying it depends when you bought? If you bought at 330p, won't the yield still be as good as it was to begin with? If you're buying at 550p then the dividend per share will be a much lower percentage.
Or have I misunderstood how yield is calculated?
yes, you are correct.
Say you bought £100 worth of shares at £3.30 = 30.3 shares, and the nett dividend is 10p/ share, = £3.03, so yield, 3.03%.
Say you bought £100 worth of shares at £5.50 = 18.18 shares and the nett dividend is 10p/share, = £1.82, so yield is 1.82%.0 -
Well I`m in `til 600p, the big funds are still buying, the trackers will have to buy for the ftse100 in Dec. and the income funds need them as well.
Very lucky I choose a share cert. or they would have gone on day one.0 -
Sold 70 shares via Equiniti share view last Fri. Received cheque today. No problems at all - I for one can't complain about Equiniti!0

Intriguing to see the professionals in action. One trade noted today on the Hargreaves Lansdown site:
16:35 - 25/10 Sell 422422 at 555.00p £2,344,442.10
I guess it depends what the seller bought them at.
The last trade of the day, another sell 628,014 @ 534.224p 17:07:03

just wondering if someone can explain something for me. I noticed today the price closed at 552p before rising to 555p in after trading. I was the shocked to see it had dropped to 534p just moments later. What could have caused this drop and does it mean prices will plummet on Monday trading?
Im guessing by posts on here its expected price will continue to rise? Must admit when i saw it at 552p i was getting itchy feet...0 -

Gutted
I sold my 227 shares via post - send it out on Monday afternoon via recorded delivery. Shares were about 520p when posted.
By close of business on Monday and reopening they dropped to as much as 470p. Lowest of the week. Tuesday was a crap day. They steadily rose thereafter.
Wouldnt you know - my post got delivered all the way from N.Ireland to England between Mon afternoon and Tuesday morning. I know because i checked the recorded delivery. I had assumed they'd take a few days.
So basically, since my post was quick, they sold for about 480p instead of 5.30p +. Over £100 in difference.
Bit gutted lol0 -
Im new to this but logged into shareview to sell and no At Best option to sell. Only At Limit ( which gives an error message of selected ) and a Stop Loss option ( which I haven't tried ) Is this because its too late in the day? Do I need to wait until Monday morning when trading starts again to see the At Best option?
Any advice would be good please.0 -
