somewhat fits the public sector stereotype : overpaid and with an entitlement complex.

He has to pay for the extra shares and you want employees to own their own company, it is a positive.
If you dont want public sector big business then someone volunteering to own it privately is not the target you should be shooting down

RM is private owned right today, so this is an employee financing their own company. Marx would be spinning!

By posting at 10.16am when you should be busy delivering mail you seem to be confirming that impression ;)
A lot of people think being a postman is easy and only a few hours work involved, long gone are the days of early finishing. In Basil74s defence, today could be his rolling day off, which will mean while other people on here will be posting at 10.16am on Saturday morning he will be busy delivering mail etc. I too am a postman and have purchased some shares as, as been said the more postman that buy shares the more they will want to make the privatisation work, hence boosting the profits up etc

TSB is even better now being sold for a second time.

I've experienced the Spanish postal 'service' so Royal Mail would have to get a lot worse before I started slagging it off.
(If you put the wrong stamp on an envelope in Spain there is no faffing about asking the recipient to pay the extra. Your letter just goes straight in the bin  )

  • When is everyone planning to sell?

Straight away in the 'conditional' trading period?
When 'proper' trading commences 4 days later?
    Never?

He might work the alternative pattern as i do, which is called a "1 in 6" which means you do 5 weeks of 6 days and then have the 6th week off. Or he might just be on holiday

I imagine many people will be looking for a quick return, hoping that the shares will jump once trading starts. I'm considering applying for a limited amount but with a view of long term holding if there isn't a quick return.
  • I'd compare it to DLG last year but with a strike it's more likely to jump down then up. The reason to buy is its long term viability and it seems reasonable as a utility type share, ultimately boring but ticks over a nice return hopefully.
Its not going to be like BG, its not that exciting
