Just rereading and noticed the 'we can claim.' Is this the 'royal we' or are you with a partner?
If you are then it will make a difference to your claims.0 -

I have my own Ltd company which I'd like to keep in case I land another programming contract so I'm a bit wary of going down the bankruptcy route.

any earnings over £5 per week will be deducted £ for £ from your JSA.
you are expected to pay for gas and electricity from your JSA
you should get housing benefit and council tax support, but how much you receive will depend on your circumstances.
do you rent privately or social housing?
how many bedrooms do you have?
council tax support is worked out differently in each council and your council will have its own scheme.
backdating may be possible, but for a max of 3 months and you would need an exceptional re sebts are your laiming to get it backdated.
your sebts are your own concrn and will not be considered when it comes to claiming benefit
Another case of being 'stitched up' by the DWP/LA. The guy has lost out on about £6000 of benefits and approx. £7000 of LHA.
This guy isn't the first and certainly won't be the last in not 'screwing' what he can out of the system.
I don't suppose we will hear much from those that decry anybody that claims everything they can on this site.
They'll be sitting there rubbing their grubby little mits!
He's up to his eyeballs in debt, the government are approx. £13,000 in pocket and he 'may' get the benefit that he still hasn't claimed backdated for 3 months.
Changes my opinion on who today is represented by Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham!!0
