MOT and tax

My cars had its Mot and failed, not getting fixed till Tuesday due to time constraints.

Tax is due on Tuesday is my memory correct that they give you a few days of leeway?

Only if you order your tax online before the month end, You can drive the car to the mot station for retest or to a place of repair without tax so if that's on Tuesday you should be ok.

I'd guess Tuesday, since that's the first of October.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

    Not necessarily.

    False logic there I think.

    Due on Tuesday.
  • Drive the car to the MOT station to get repaired, then to the post office with your shiny new MOT

You should be able to apply on line now as the vehicle will still have a current MOT until midnight on the 1st October.

It's helpfully spelt out on the reminder ;) so I'll just quote (emphasis is mine)

"If you can't tax on time (for example when getting an MoT or insurance for your vehicle): By law, you as the registered keeper will not be committing an offence as long as you tax the vehicle or make a SORN within 14 days of the date your tax disc or SORN runs out. However, you must keep your vehicle off the road during that time."
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail
