Boiler replacements quotes + advice please.

Options
Hi we have been given some quotes to replace our 20 year old Baxi boiler.

The prices include full fitting and extra pipework.
A magnavlean filter.
Replace 2 large double radiators.
Install one extra double radiator.
TRV's to 5 radiators.
We have a 4 bedroom house with 13 radiators in total.

We are still very unsure whether to get a combi or a standard boiler, any thoughts on this please?

Quotes are:
WB 18RI - £1850

Combi's
WB Junior 28 KW £2140
WB 29CDI £2240

Thanks;)

  • Have you had your water pressure/flow tested at standing and working rates? Not everyone can have a combi.
Combi's aren't always the best choice for larger houses especially if you have more than one bathroom or you have a larger family, unless you are prepared to play the "don't run the tap" game when you're in the shower.
The prices are quite cheap but we can't give you a definite answer because we're not there but try and go with someone who can give you references for other work or have carried out work for someone you know. Don't look at the the price and think he's the cheapest I'll go for him because its not always the best way to go. Get at least three quotes/estimates.

Thanks, got a couple more people coming round. One said he would check all pressures before quoting without me mentioning it, so that sounds promising.
With look at checks trade. Thanks.
  • How did you get on? Also don't forget to make sure your tradesmen is covered properly. I believe the Gas Safe Register is the one to look on to check.
