Hi Everyone :)

I am a member of the Cheap Energy Club, on here.
Periodically, I check the site which advises me I am still on the cheapest deal.
I'm with Scottish Power November 2013 tarriff which runs out in October 31st.
Will I have to do a comparison and switch to a better deal/get a better deal from Scottish Power, myself, or, will cheap energy club notify me, when I need to switch, and what the best deal is.

I want to avoid going on the more expensive Standard Tarriff.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

I reckon it's about time that you started looking around. The SP Nov 2013 tariff doesn't have any exit fees and paying for a week or two on another fix may be better than missing the boat and finding that they've all gone up 8-18% in the next couple of weeks.

I'm on it at present and have chosen the SP Dec 2014 fix as it looks like the cheapest at the moment. I looked at the Npower 2017 but it will cost me £400 more than the SP between now and Dec 2014.

I'll take my chance at what the prices are for my fix when the 2014 deal runs out (I'll certainly be £400 better off)

Hi and thanks so much for answering my question.
Hope you don't mind me being a copycat, but i would like to do the same as you but more questions first.

If prices are being hiked, why not choose one of the jan 2017 deal.
Do these all have exit fees?
Even so, if its cheapest, wouldnt you be ok with one that lasts a few years?

    Thanks
  • I.m currently on the energy online 20 tariff with scottish power, that ends end of oct, I went for Npower 2017 fixed deal, with price rises around the corner, n no doubt more in the coming winters, I think n hope it will save in the long run, (and don't forget if you go for a short deal, you will need to look for another at the end of that deal, and each new tariff is in essence another price hike, so in effect your paying for 2 hikes( if as predicted prices will rise each year)

all that said, if things do get slightly cheaper be that by a miracle prices drop, or an even bigger miracle milliband actually does what he preaches and freezes tariffs for 20 months then your free to leave npowers deal free of charge

    Hi Thanks

Somehow I don't think energy will get cheaper.
I think I will go for that 2017 deal with SP as I have been happy with them this year.

    :)

have you done a comparison to see which works out cheaper? if npower works out cheaper, you could also get cashback from topcashback or quidco also,

abviously if theres not much saving between the SP and Npower deal then not much point in hassle of switching etc

  • Hi peeps,
I have just done fuel comparisons with MoneySavingEnergyClub and Energy Helpline as I am currently on EDF Energy Assist for electricity, which is ending this month. I am on Southern Electric 2 year capped Price Plan 2 for Gas and EDF will switch my account to their Standard (Variable) account if they don't hear from me.
Now even more confused, MSE says I am on the best tariff, but Energy Helpline says I can save £114 a year by switching to Ebico for duel fuel.
I have looked at old feedback for Ebico, which looks ok, but can't see any current feedback. Obviously, £114 is mega dosh, but am concerned that MSE doesn't include it.
    Any current feedback much appreciated.
