mobility - named drivers

Hi can anyone tell me when it came in that your named driver needs to live within 5 miles of the driver on a mobility scheme?

My partner has me named on his policy and has been like that for over 2 years, I drive him when I am at his house so that he can go to see friends etc, but my registered address is 11 miles away but stop at his 50 % of the time.

He has just ordred new car and we just wondered when this came in /was it always in and they just allowed me on as a named driver

anybody know?

I think it was about early 2012/ late 2011.

It has been in place now over a year but like many things on the motability scheme your best bet is to call them as sometimes they can and do make exceptions.

well guess that means I won't be running him to meet friends then as my registered house is 11 miles from his :-(

You can always go to his house by bus and take him out.
