Credit search for account which isnt mine

Hi,

Someone in the property i reside in has applied for a credit card and they have searched my credit file, can and why would they do that?

    If you are financially associated on your credit files (e.g. have/had a joint bank account) then yes.

    If you are not financially associated then definitely not allowed. If that is the case I would contact the credit reference agency and inform them that this was an unauthorised search of your file.
