My canon ip4300 suddenly started flashing orange 5 times which indicates the dreaded printhead problems. Nothing I do appears able to fix it so it looks like I will be needing to buy a new one.
I have got left about a dozen chipped ink cartridges for this machine which will now go to waste as you cannot get any new printers which use them and after having had a look round I don't see any new cheapish printers which you can buy similarly priced chipped cartridges for.
Ideally I want to buy a printer for less than £50 and for there to be available chipped cartridges going for a quid or two on ebay. Is this possible anymore or have I got no choice but to splash out the big bucks?

Start at the end and find what cartridges you can get cheap and what printer they fit .Also if they are single or multi tanks keeps the cost down .Also look to see if ink comes with prechipped or DIY chips as most printers are now chipped .Canon and Epson are the two most likely brands to fit the bill .

I plumped for the epson xp-305 in the end after checking ebay to match cheap compatibles with machines. It came yesterday but I have yet to open it. Once I have got it set up and working, the next step will be order some carts and then reluctantly void the printer's warranty by using them:(
