Asdas till system + offers

OK bit of tale to tell...
Asda now have an offer that they will match any competitor offer, just bring them a printed advert as proof.
So l got a flyer from a coop and took it in to them with a bunch of BOGOF offers for some cooking sauces l buy a lot. They have a bb of 2006 so l thought l would stock up.
Now on the shelf in asda there is no mention of any offers they have on, so l though ok l'll use the coop offer.
At the checkout out gave the cashier the flyer before we started, bought about 10 jars of sauce. As she scanned them through she has to adjust the price to match the coop price for the first item, then put the next item through at 0.
Simple enough you would think. But they cannot put through multiples - so each jar must be done one at a time. No 3x£1.65 and 3x£0, 6 separate scans and adjustments for the first lot. Then another 4 for the next lot. So that's about 8 minutes.
But then it gets worst! Asda have a mutlisave offer on them as well - that is not advertised on the shelf - buy 2 of one type and get 75p off. So the till will work out 1 @ £1.65, 1 @ £0 and then minus 75p = £0.90.
So she has to void them all off! Start again and this time put them through 1 @£1.65 and one @ 75p, so the computer does 1 @ £1.65, one @ 75p minus 75p = £1.65. Another 8 minutes.
Of course she couldn't work this out for herself and had to call a manager over to help, add another 3 minutes for this waiting.
Then she started on the next 4 sauces different types and they also have a multisave on, so she had to do the same for them, about 4 minutes for this.
As all this was happening l noticed that one of the first sauces seal had popped so l needed a replacement, l offered to go and get it but the manager said they would take care of it. At the end of the transaction l had paid for the broken seal sauce jar, but had not had it replaced. So the manager then took me over to customer service so they could call someone from that department to look for it. Waiting 3 minutes for them.
They go and look for it, comer back and say there are none on the shelf, and they will be back after looking through the warehouse. Another 5 minutes, there are none in the warehouse.
Then as l had already paid l had to queue for a refund....but of course this is a BOGOF refund, so it is complicated, l explained this to the girl on the desk as l gave her the receipt, she didn't even acknowledge me as she was chatting to her colleague and she just refunded the full £1.65. So in effect l got 1 jar free without buying one with it which was good. Took another 3 minutes for the refund though.
So about 35 minutes to pay for 10 jars of sauce, and that's just the paying bit, not including the shopping bit first. Pretty awful l thought. Oh and while l was at the till the manager gave out some "smile vouchers" to the other customer queuing behind me for the wait (money off vouchers). I was offered nothing.
Now l know it is a great policy they have, and it wasn't really the staffs fault the till system was a little complicated, but as a company they really need to look at the effects of this new policy before implementing it. If l wasn't saving over £10 on BOGOF offers l would of complained like mad, l'm still considering writing to head office to express my disgust with the whole system.

I would have complained about not getting the 'Smile' vouchers when the customer behind did!
It's not entirely your fault YOU had to wait!I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.0 -
yep, i complained a couple of weeks ago when a security tag wouldn't come off a garment i was buying, so had to wait for someone th fetch another, bloke behind me got them, me with the problem that wasn't my fault was offered nothing, till i made a show of saying stick you're garment, hardly my fault i'm stuck here, and various other things. (not often i lose my temper but it took them 15 mins to fetch one off the rack, when i could have done it in two). Got smile vouchers, and an apology.0

Why not just go to the co-op next time?student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0

I buy a lot of Asda own brand products and l find the overall shop cheaper than elsewhere. If l was to shop @ the coop my overall spend would increase more than the BOGOF reduction and therefore make it pointless.
This way l get the overall cheap asda shop, plus the BOGOF offers on topSense is not common.0 -
sorry wmp...I got lost after the fourth para ???♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0

Maybe thats the whole point of the system?
You wait 30 minutes for the cashier to scan the items, the till automatically detects a BOGOF and voids the transaction forcing the cashier to start again. While you're not looking the cashier secretly breaks one of the items while you're to busy worrying about making that important meeting in three hours time. So you wait another 10 minutes for a manager to pretend to find a replacement, who tells you they're out of stock but will find the card that lets the cashier do a refund, he's sure he saw it somewhere... By that time you're so fuming with rage that you just tell the cashier to forget the whole thing and charge you the normal price meaning you actually end up paying more than you would have normally.A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

LOL, a very pessimistic view pound_signSense is not common.0
