We are hopefully going to apply for a mortgage soon and we missed a payment on the broadband as they were setting up a direct debit its not a default just a late payment
Will that stop us from getting a mortgage or is it just defaults? x

Just defaults, although if you have a string of late payments it may be seen as a possible concern, but as an isolated issue - I wouldn't worry!0

Oh no its just the one they told us not to worry DD would be set up on time, got a letter paid immediately x0

Only an issue if your broadband supplier reports to a credit reference agency - which I'm not sure that many do.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

you can write to your broadband company and get them to authorise the removal of the default.
Incidentally I used to miss credit card payments all the time when I had an extremely busy life not consistently but on average two or three times a year more so from absent mindness than anything else
I noticed these on my file but they did not seem to affect me getting my mortgage a couple of years ago
Perhaps if you have a long list of defaults maybe but even if you have a reasonable explanation and your mortgage company turns you down I doubt they take your reason into consideration
I once called a credit card company to get a default removed from my credit file they did so pretty quickly given the circumstances were genuine can you not do the same with your BB company?0 -

Hi thank you, its not a default he paid it before it turned into that it was just 2 missed payments. He is going to try and call them but I have emailed the credit referalls department.
