Advice on opening current account

Ok guys, need some info here,

I'm currently with the Bank of Scotland and have a student account (havn't been bothered changing it) now i have at anytime around £3,000 sitting in this account and have regular monthly payments of 1,400 or more into the account every month.

The interset i earn in this account is rubbish obviously as its a student account, i want to move to another account, can anyone reccomend or point me in the direction of where the best current account is at the mo offering high interest?

Try the Halifax High Interst account which I believe you may be able to open thru Bank of Scotland. They pay 6.17% gross providing you credit the account with £1000 each month, other wise you only get 0.10%.

The overdraft rate is 15.9%.

Otherwise the Alliance and Leicester pays 6.5% but I think this may be only for 1 year.
