How do i install an Epson Stylus Photo RX425?

Hi, i hope someone out there can help because i'm useless with technology!
My friend has given me her old printer but she didn't have the installation cd and despite searching the internet i've found a 'driver' to download but i don't know what i'm missing because when i put my digital camera memory card into the printer i can't get my computer to read it or act on it being there, i'm wanting to get some pictures onto it so i can email them to a friend who lives in Oz now and it's starting to drive me mad
I know it's probably something easy but i need help
