in Credit cards
I am trying to apply for a credit card, and I constantly run into a problem with my address...We are 10 flats, and everytime someone searches the address, the system comes up with "1-10, Example Street". My flat is 4. So if I put "flat 4, example street", they can never find it and I fail ID check
Has anyone else had this sort of problem?

Yes
Find out EXACTLY how the council enter your address and that is most likely the "correct" way to enter it for CRAs and you then just need to correct your address with banks etc to match the council.
I had to spend some time on the phone to Experian some years ago because of a similar problem where we were told the address was 4 The BuildingName, The Street, The Townwhere as the council had it as 4 BuildingName Apartments, 23 The Street, The Town.0 -
Yes, I agree you do need to find out exactly how it is listed. My Brother had the same problem with TV License. (They wouldn't provide one :rotfl: ) Turned out he lived at 1324 The Street. Which meant 13th floor, flat 240

I'm moving flat next week, the houses go 100, 102, 104, 106, 108A, Flat 1 108, Flat 2 108, 110, 112...
I'm moving into Flat 1 108 :S Every utility supplier and person I've had to mention my address to has had trouble looking it up in the computer :S "Is it 110A?" "No, that's next door." "Oh...Hold on"0 -
Use the Royal Mail postcode/address finder linked by molerat in post #4 above. Make sure you have the correct postcode for your house or flat and use the address exactly as displayed on the Royal Mail site. Most (possibly all) banks, card companies and utilities use the RM postal address file to input and verify addresses, so an exact match should help.0

Yes I figured this much..In the system it is listed as "1-10"...OK I guess I will force everyone to write to me at 1-100 -

If you contact the Royal Mail and explain the situation, they should be willing to update their database to show each flat separately - though it will take some time for banks/retailers to update their records to reflect any changes.
