British Gas and green deal
Hi there - in desperate need for a new boiler as mine is on its last legs.
I've just had a guy from BG round and he quoted £3.7k.
I said I wanted it through the green deal and he stated that I can only put so much on the green deal and the rest would have to be paid upfront or financed. He said the "golden rule" is the repayment should be less the savings. Which I have read elsewhere.
I thought the whole point of the green deal was there were no upfront costs and nothing to be financed??
He also said the loan is in my name but it stays with the house!?
Anyone who has a similar experience please

It would work out cheaper finding a local plumber and taking out a bank loan to pay for itNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

I think you need to do some basic research on the Green Deal. Essentially, you can't borrow more than the estimated savings over the loan period (the idea being that your energy bills should be no higher than they would otherwise have been).
And yes, the next owner inherits any remaining debt unless you pay it off, which of course reduces the property value for the next 10 years.
BG are typically 40% more than an independent GSR RGI for a new install. No free lunch, and no free laptop
