Empty report???

I've received my credit check and it's empty? Literally nothing on there. I know that I have previously had bad credit but this will be over 10 years ago. I've applied for a house through a letting agent and they are doing credit checks. I'm scared I won't pass. But if my report has nothing on it, what does this mean? Any help very much appreciated.

What credit agreements are you expecting to see on there?

What credit/finance/agreements do you currently have which should be on there?

Letting agent report will only be looking for things like CCJs and bankruptcies, so you should be fine.

Sorry I don't know much at all. It's all confusing to me. I got the £2 one you can apply for from experian. I had a credit card and a loan years ago which had defaulted from my student days. No current credit at all.

Old debts fall off your credit file 6 years from the default date.

If you defaulted more than 6years ago and have no current credit agreements/phone accounts or anything at all then nothing will show on your report.

If you do have any current credit accounts then possibly they show on one of the other agency reports (there are 3) or possibly there is a slight problem with your address that means that they haven't appeared on your report (e.g. if the address is written slightly differently.

A rental check doesn't show this information anyway. They only see public information, that is whether you are on the electoral roll and a record of insolvency or CCJs in the last 6 years.

  • The agent has employed a company called vanmildert to do the checks. Are they under the same thing that they can only search ccjs etc? Thanks all for your help!
