Travel website booked wrong room, given choice of taking shared room or pay more

I used the last of my savings to pay for 2 nights at £15 in a hotel through a 3rd party website.

The website is misleading but I double checked as the hotel website direct had rooms for £30 or a shared dorm for £15 a person, but as I suffer from severe depression and hate being around others as autistic I checked a few times that it was for correct room.

I then booked but didnt see the special notes on the confirmation that said it was for a shared room,

To be clearer the website lists it as single room 1 person not SHARED room, but the confirmation has single room 1 person then further down in small print says shared with 5 others.

I went back on the website and it shows 2 single rooms, one says shared in small print one has nothing in small print about shared but hotel are not budging saying I booked a shared room and single rooms are £30 and all I can do is pay the difference.

Sorry if confusing but even if I left the house now would not get to the hotel till around 4pm which wastes the reason why I wanted to go there, so I can either lose the money, get there late and share a room which would make me physically sick or pay extra and still only really get 1 day around the town.

Since this is websites problem what can I do?

  • You've contacted the hotel by why not the website? They are the one which you have a contract with and so responsible for supplying what you paid for

Your contract is with the 3rd party website so take it up with them.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I forgot to mention I contacted the 3rd party website myself who just contacted the hotel and said the hotel says they cannot change rooms without paying more

Very crafty though, I noticed they changed the website after I complained, before it showed 2 different types of single rooms, now it shows one as shared room on the website and one as single room but when you click it it says single room, then shared.

In the end I cancelled my bank card and told bank which means I am without a card for about a week.

Why would you cancel your bankcard? The payment will still go through

Correct. You're still going to have the money taken out.

This is why it's always important to read everything on a hotel booking - all notes etc on the page. I've nearly been caught out.
