hello everyone
me and my boyfriend of 4 years who do want to get married, also want to buy our own place. i heard somewhere that a couple can be lent more money from the bank for a place if theyre actually married./... is this true? would that mean it would be better to marry first?
thanks!!!

i'm guessing your boyfriend wants to desperately marry you, if he's come out with that old chestnut!
to be honest you'd have more money if you weren't married (ie no £20k wedding!
)
but to try and answer your question, I'm not so sure, they'll obviously lend more money as a joint application but don't think it matters if you're actually married unless of course it's from a religious bank

Hi, when we went to see someone about a mortgage I asked this question (as I'm getting married in January) and the guy said that it used to make a difference but not any more.0

No is the short answer0

As already mentioned, it used to make a difference because it makes you look more 'committed'. But I doubt it makes a shred of difference these days!0
