Death of my wife & a PPI refund

Me & my wife put a PPI claim in against First Plus in July 2013, and on the 6th August 2013 they agreed to refund the premiums paid. Unfortunately my wife was very ill & died of cancer shortly after receiving the acceptance form. This meant she wasn't able to sign but part of the acceptance form.

First Plus have stated that before they are willing to issue the refund, they require a copy of the will or grant of probate or the letters of administration which confirms that I am the executor.

My wife didn't make a will and so I was wondering where I stood? I have tried to do some research on the internet but it hasn't been very helpful.

I would be grateful for any advice.

The Will is only to show if there are instructions in there to pay her estate to someone else. Without a Will then the grant of probate and death certificate will be fine.

if the PPI and debt was still in force, then death is covered on many PPI policies and it would be cleared. So, a claim on the policy, if it is not too late, may be better.
