Credit card for overseas cash

Hey,
I am going to Japan soon for a ski season and am looking for a credit card that is best for cash withdrawals. Japan has a cash culture so I need something with (hopefully) no withdrawal or % fees as I will be visiting ATM's big and often!
I already have the Halifax Clarity and when I spent 3 months abroad recently I recon it saved me hundred's of pounds through the banks top exchange rates. Sadly this is MASTERCARD and it will be rarely accepted in Japan.
Thanks

MetroBank cards are the most known alternative, but I don't know whether their debit card is Visa:

Metrobank is Debit Mastercard.
Nationwide Flexplus debit card is visa and offers free foreign cash (but not spend) - £10 per month account fee though, but it does include travel insurance as one of the benefits!0 -

No international cards are accepted at ATMs (Diners Club/Amex is as they have a partnership with JCB but that would be very expensive to withdraw on them) other than in the post office and 7-Eleven (Which is Visa/Amex only), the card type doesn't really matter. I think, you can still do over the counter withdrawals at banks though.
Amex is accepted everywhere JCB (Japanese Credit Bureau) is for purchases if I recall correctly (Amex and Discover have a partnership with JCB) so if you don't have an Amex, you might want one. I can recall a couple of restaurants and retailers in Tokyo that only accept American Express/JCB as well.0
