I would always hope to buy a printer where the ink costs more in the long run than the printer does. I want my printers to last years!
What is your budget?
Do you want to print text or photos?
What size paper do you want to print on?
How much printing are you doing every day?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

HP, Canon and Epson all do sub £50 colour printers most of them multi function i.e.print, copy and scan.hi it is for home
if can get colur /and /bw
if possibe if not then standard would be fine
I.e. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/printers-ink/printers-scanners/all-in-one-printers/epson-expression-home-xp305-wireless-all-in-one-inkjet-printer-17593380-pdt.html?gclid=CJ7xuvOC6bkCFXMQtAod8V8Ahg&srcid=198&cmpid=ppc~gg~~~Exact&mc!!!!!gg_goog_7904&s_kwcid=AL!3391!3!30417558324!!!g!60595216315!&ef_id=UkQVXQAAAZX17IMv:20130926120509:s
as an example.
The printers at this level vary between having a single black ink with a single tri-colour cartridge and ones with seperate ink cartridges for the three individual colours and a black and you will need to check for wireless capability if you require that.
Most type of inks can be bought as compatibles online which reduce the costs dramatically, just be sure to check the reviews of the ink websites first (Amazon traders I have found to be reliable).
The alternative is a Black and White only laser i.e. http://www.comwales.co.uk/store/product.php?productid=71839 but the replcement toners for these are£35 - £50 on their own.Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -
Hi
I am in university and use a HP DESKJET 3055A(Copy/scan/print). Its a black(£10/11) + tricolour(£13) cartridge . You can get both for £20/23 I think. The printer is £35 in Tesco. I have used HP for a while now and find them pretty reliable and good at lasting.0 -
cheap black and white laser, eg samsung, no more dried up ink and messing about trying to get a printout.!!

Currys have a Samsung laser printer for £38 but the replacement toner cartridges are expensive and reviews on Amazon indicate problems with compatible cartridges. It might still be worth getting if you'll only be using it occasionally because the cartridge which comes with it will print about 500 pages.

If you reckon you'll be printing more frequently then Currys have a Brother for £60.

This site has Brother toner cartridges for £31.61 including delivery and compatibles for £27.88 including delivery. They may be cheaper elsewhere, I didn't look very far.
