Not that there's anything really to comment on but I got home last night to find a brown envelope on the kitchen table which (usually) means only one thing - the CSA have been in touch

Imagine my surprise when I open the envelope to find a set of wage slips and a letter saying they had finished with them and would be in touch...

Nothing out of the ordinary there!

Not until I point out that this is the set of wage slips that the CSA said they never received and then demanded I supply a duplicate set so that they could complete their assessment. What's more is that the CSA have seen, acknowledged and returned the second set. They have also made their assessment and sent out a payment schedule and direct debits are up an running (already made 1 payment and next is due in a week)...

It was too late to phone them last night to find out what's going on (and I didn't look to see if the reference numbers match) but I just thought 'oh dear - here we go again'...

I'm going to have to phone them later as I don't want them to send out another payment schedule and then claim that I've not been paying (despite the fact that my bank statements clearly show I am). I think this is all a result of my case being moved to back to Bolton earlier this year from Falkirk (or somewhere like that)....

Just when you think that everything is running along smoothly with the CSA - they go and mix things up a bit :rotfl:

  • CSA - Just about the most disorganised, inept and moronic organisation there is.
  • its more likely we didnt get around to sending them back honestly, Every caseworker is guilty of this at some point.

When we recive your documents, they are stored in "packs" we only get the packs from the filing system when there is action on the case, therefore packs can sit dormant for weeks/months, i wouldnt worry to much.

Don't worry about totally inept management? No wonder it is such a parlous state if that is the sort of attitude that permeates the rest of the CSA straff.

Your job is to MANAGE the cases not forget about stuff in cabinets!

If the documents were of high importance im sure we would get a call to ask for them back, at which point the pack would be located and sent on the same day, Photo copys of payslips sent in are hardly high importance, a birth cert ect would be sent back immediatly. Not the answer you want, but the truth none the less, i was just trying to tell the OP not to worry as its probly nothing. Id still ring in to check mind.

And you don't feel that you have any responsibiliuty to return documentation as soon as you have finished with it?

It doesn't matter whether they are photocopies or carved on the tablets that Moses brought down from the mountain, staff have a responsibility to return them as soon as they have served their purpose.
If there is a requirement to keep them then it is incumbent on the requestor to make this clear at the request stage otherwise they should get returned automatically not wait for somebody to ring up and ask

Maybe somebody really needs to look hard at processes, procedures and checking sytems that appear to be non-existent and make them effective

  • I think you want to think were all sat in a circle wondering which documents we want to hold back this week for the good of the csa.

its human error, if im dealing with 150 cases a week, and lets say half have relevant docs that need to be sent back, im probly going to acidentally forget to send one or two of them especially ones that wont stick in my mind like a marrige/birth cert would.

Then you need a new system mate. I have had no dealings with CSA ever but this is disrespectful and incompetent. If you accidentally forget to do something as important as sending back original documentation then you need a process in place that ensures you send back original documentation.

  • I hope you can understand that feelings run high on this forum about the CSA.Some of us feel we have been treated very badly by this agency. It wouldn't be so bad if it would be doing what it is supposed to be doing ....giving support to children . As you can tell the errant fathers are doing what ever they can to avoid paying by using tricks the CSA are legal(not working & putting everything in the partners name etc Yet people like us are being so badly treated you take the pwc's word over ours with out checking the authenticity of her claims meaning we have to pay twice ! You are not leaving enough in the households for children of the nrp to have a decent life because you have neglected to tell them of arrears that have built up often that they are unaware of. The Agency works at the speed of a geriatric snail unless they want some info from the nrp then they want it..yesterday! You can't get any help from solicitors (except specialist ones like Lawsons but we can't afford them -remember we are finding it hard to even live on what moneys left in our house!) as CSA are government agencies & therefore too complicated (dont we know!) the CSA staff dont know all the rules so we are pushed from pillar to post getting conflicting information.Citzens advice will only point you in direction of help they cant do anything themselves. MP's are overwhelmed with cases. The Media are not allowed to broadcast anything or print anything .The CSA lose letters, put sensitive information on other cases in other peoples letters breaching data protection laws. They turn up at tribunal without any paperwork(in our's -or did they know they were beaten on this case ?)Cant find a particular recording of a phone call on a certain date when we asked for it ! People tell you to have everything in writing ,dont deal with them on the phone, record delivery of everything you send ,make copies or you'll never see it again ! I could go on ... sorry, I'm not painting a very good picture. I , & others, appreciate your help Caseworker but something needs to be done. You must feel you need to help people which is why you are on here -at last someone with a heart working at the CSA!
