Dont get it done! Its dodgy experimental technology and could put some people off buying your home.

    Can you support that statement?

Sorry to bump this but I just wanted to say thank you all for your responses!

We cancelled the appointment (they didn't seem bothered!) and had a lovely relaxing Saturday instead!
  • Hi Nicegirl, your present meter has come to the end of its certifiable period and a new meter is required. It does nt matter if its a smart or normal meter, it needs replacing. National Grid run the gas side, and the Regional Distributor run the electric side, so even if you switch supplier , a new meter is still needed, smart or otherwise. My smart electric meter only took 20 mins to fit and its quite a useful thing to have for a money saving person. we havent had many problems at all with the electric smart, a few sim card failures quickly sorted out, and any sort of problem with this would probably be to the occupiers benefit anyway. My advice is to get the meter fitted, and dont forget to claim your £25 compensation if for some reason the fitter does nt turn up
