Dispute Over Final Meter Readings?

Hi I've just switched electricity supplier from EDF to SP. My final meter readings I gave SP were accurate & in line with my usage as they have always been, having always given monthly readings. Yet now EDF is saying there is some dispute over the final readings? & this could take another 6 to 8 weeks before I receive my final bill? I am £298.99 in credit, so expecting quite a bit of cash owed after the final bill. I instead of companies guessing at a final reading between them why don't they just contact the customer first if any queries? At what stage should I put a complaint in? May be things might move faster then?

Just had an email back from SP (New supplier) saying 'there is no information regarding the dispute with my previous supplier on my account' quoting correctly my final meter readings?
Yet email from EDF says different?

Appreciate any help
