wallpaper strippers

Hi,
I am moving into my new house on friday. Its a 4 bed old council house which needs all rooms stripping of old wallpaper, as rapidly as possible to enable replastering.
I hav a small steam wallpaper stripper which I have previously used for small jobs.
Due to the scale of the job I am considering hiring or buying a bigger wallpaper stripper.
I would appreciate other peoples experience of using 240v Wallpaper Strippers vs the small standed wallpaper strippers.
Would it be worth the money? Would it speed the process much?

How do you know it needs replastering if you haven't removed the wallpaper yet?

Try as I may and thick as I am I can't make head nor tail of
experience of using 240v Wallpaper Strippers vs the small standed wallpaper strippers.

    Cheers

My own experience is that unless you have 3 or 4 arms, the standard DIY type are perfectly adequate, just ensure you keep steaming while you scrape the previous area.;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Are you intending to remove all the old plaster and redoing it from scratch? If so, why bother taking off the wallpaper first? I understand if you're going to be skimming over the old plaster, but otherwise I'd take the plaster and paper off in one go!

Still don't understand why if all the wallpaper is still on the walls OP knows that the walls need replastering whether that be the full monty or just a skim.

Because once you take off wallpaper, it's easier to skim and paint rather than clean and paint.

I'm thinking he must be able to see cracks through the plaster, feel lumps in the surface. If that's the case he probably just intends to have it skimmed over. Given it's an ex council house some previous plaster damage is quite likely. (No offence to council house tenants) intended.

Or, he may be like me, and can't stand wall paper and think it's just there to hide irregular plasterwork:D:D

Any way' he won't be answering today, he's got Pickfords in,;),
