E-on: AGE UK Tariff coming to an end.....read on
Just thought I'd spread the word.
I'm an E-on customer (Gas only) on the AGE UK FIX Oct 13 tariff, it's coming to an end on Oct 1st.
In the letter they sent a couple of weeks ago telling me that the tariff was ending they told me to contact them to se if the AGE UK 1 year fixed tariff would be good for me.
I serched on their website first to see whta else was on offer....after filling in the details the onlt tariff for me was their Standard Tariff.
I tried looking at the figures if I opted for a 1 or 2 year fixed deal on the website but it wouldn't let me ...it kept telling me that the Standard Tariff was cheapest for me. Agreed yes it would be but I don't mind paying a little extra for the "Peace of Mind" as they put it in fixing my Tariff.
I called E-on and it was explained that as I was a "Gas Only" customer only the Standard Tariff was open to me, which is cheaper than their fixed tariffs.....but obviously a sitting duck for price increases in the future (not too distant).
So as this information was not mentioned in E-on's letter or on their website I thought I'd flag it up here.
If you only have Gas supplied by them you can only have their Standard Tariff.
I only have Gas supplied by them as the electricity I am supplied with is a lot cheaper than E-ons Tariff.

Use a comparison website to find the cheapest fixed deals if that's what you want.0

My point is that nowhere in their letter or on the website does it contain this information......
All it says is that if you want to remain an E-on customer you don't need to do anything........not that you will be penalised for being a one energy customer.
Comparison sites are excellent....but really how much are you going to save? .... also when what ever "money saving" Tariff it is, ends you are still going to have pay the going rate for the energy....even if it's another "money saving" Tariff....odds on per KWH the price will be higher.
Just putting off the inevitable really.0 -
Have to agree FLAPJACK. We've just the one tariff available for gas only customers and this isn't made clear, either on our website or in the letter we've sent you.
I'll feed this back to the relevant manager to see what can be done to improve on this.

There's no way of knowing how much you'll save unless you actually use the comparison website. All you need to know is the name of the tariff you're going to be moving to (as Malc said, there's only one available to you if you stay with E.On) and your past year's usage. If you want to be a bit more accurate, take the average of the last two years, since last winter was harsh and the winter before was mild.
It won't take more than 10 minutes if you know where your bills are.0
