Private Healthcare

Hi ppl

Wanted some advice regarding Private Healthcare. I play footie for a local non-league side and recently had an ligament injury to my knee.

It's actually getting a bit better now but the physio asked me at the time if I had private healthcare (I don't) as he would recommend me getting an MRI scan as I had some problems with it about 5 years ago which resulted in a minor operation. Obviously I can do this on the NHS but it will take ages and having had an injury before I want some reassurance.

He said most companies will cover me because it was more than 5 years ago when I had a problem.

Can anyone recommend anyone and what sort of price it's gonna cost me to join up / monthly fees etc

Cheers

WJUK :)

The cost will depend on too many things ,age,smoker/non-smoker,past health :-/

Best thing is check with a couple and see what it will cost you ...............dependant on the level of cover you require...............the more you want the more it will cost  :-/

I'm with BUPA ,it's really good but it is costly :)

as you've already been diagonsed (for the second time) isn't it unlikely that you will be able to get cover anyway?

I've got a feeling that if you joined a healthcare scheme now you wouldn't be covered for any previous problems.

My chap had a similar problem last year and we were in your predicament. We were told that he couldn't join a healthcare scheme for the reasons above.

In the end we had to pay privately for an athroscopy. It cost £2000 :o in all but he was in within a week and almost fully recovered in about 6 weeks.
Just run, run and keep on running!

Poochy = you are right - for private healthcare you will need to complete an application form and declare any recent illnesses or injuries, therefore as you have just seen a physio again it is likely that this would be an excluded condition for you.

Depending on people's working circumstances it is good to see if your company offer private medical care as sometimes the policies do not require you to complete medical application forms

Private medical insurance offers great reassurance and peace of mind = so even though you may be excluded for this condition you might want to get some prices and get a policy for any future illness/injury

    Good luck
  • Hi chaps

The physio is a friend of mine so nothing is on record and my last op on it was 7 years ago so that should be ok in most companies books (I think it's 5 years for most).

Will ask my company but I doubt it !!!! - tight gits >:(
