This was really really helpful thanks friend!:

A pleasure. Anything else, just ask!:D

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!

Hi Rosie and Jim, good luck with your budget recipes......I don't know whether or not you are vegetarians, but I would definately recommend using some vegetarian meals as they are really cheap to make. We tend to alternate between veggie/meat meals on alternate days and it really helps to cut down our grocery bills For example, yesterday I went into Aldi and bought:-

    A head of brocolli,
    a cauliflower,
    a cabbage
a bag each of spuds, onions and carrots
    a tin of sweetcorn
    a tin of mushrooms

Total spend approx £4 (can't lay my hands on the receipt so not

Then from Tesco, I go a big pack of extra lean minced steak and a tin of aduki beans - £3.79 total

With the addition of some milk, cornflour, a tin of tomatoes that I had in the cupboard anyway, a few stock cubes and some herbs/spices, I have since used up the lot to make:-

    3 pints thick minestrone soup
2 pints cauliflower and broccolli soup
a veggie pie (like a shepherd's pie but with veggies!)
    2 "proper" shepherds pies
a massive lasagne that I'll freeze in 2 halves
    a meat chilli
    a veg chilli

(I also used some of the veg in each of the meat recipes to bulk it out a bit and to make it healthier as well)

and we're having the last bits of the cauliflower, cabbage and carrots, along with some home grown mangetout, with tonights tea!

so that's 7 main meals and 5 lunches (the soups) for 2 people for less than £8.00! :j :j :j
