I would if I were in that situation, but some people don't/can't.

The OP is obviously not in that situation as she is very much aware that the storyline in Eastenders isn't accurate time-wise.
That is the basis for her vent.

    <<Sighs>>
    For the 3rd time, I don't.

You obviously don't understand. When I say "don't watch eastenders" I'm not talking about yourself. I'm talking about the people who watch it and then complain it's not factual accurate.

It's accepted by everyone who realises that a fictional tv drama does not have to be factually accurate......

Most normal people who can manage to watch TV without the need for writing to Points of View if it even still exists?!

Off-topic but I think I can answer this one. Accepted by Peru much everyone who watches films or TV. When a character leaves a room to go to the pub, we don't follow them for 10 minutes as they find their keys, put on a coat, change shoes, put the bins out, walk up the road, pop to the cashpoint and then into the corner shop to get a lottery ticket, queue up, etc. It's boring. It makes for uninteresting watching. Editing is an accepted manipulation of time in order to make a more compelling programme.

This case though, OP has a valid point. Easties go to a lot of trouble to try to keep realistic on so many things, to the point of planting fake daffodils when filming based on weather forecasts of when they'll be up. This is clearly an oversight, let them know. It won't change the story this time, but it will make sure the story editor keeps it in mind for the future.

My point exactly, although misunderstood by JReacher1.

As with so many things, it's a matter of balance.

People are willing to accept certain unrealities as plot devices that are essential to move the story along.

But the idea that the writers should have carte blanche to ignore all the realities of life is as absurd as is the idea that everything should be realistic down to the last minor detail.

The line is crossed when a significant minority of people find the inaccuracies are distracting from the immersive experience of the story.

To take extreme examples, having a lorry driver undertake a journey that would put him a half an hours over his working time allowance may be acceptable but having someone go off to medical school and return a fortnight later as a fully qualified doctor would not.

The best thing to do is just to let people complain in peace because arguing the toss just drags the whole thing on.

I except the point you're making but Eastenders is an entertainment program that wants to attract large audiences. A storyline that drags on for 6 months because of NHS waiting lists would soon bore the audience!

If people were more interested in programs being factually accurate than entertaining then the viewing audience of BBC2/3/4 would be a lot higher than it is.

Watch a historical drama/film, the liberties they take with historical facts is shocking. That "White Queen" on BBC1 recently is a case in point. However as its only entertainment I accept the plot twists they introduced as although not factually accurate produce a more entertaining viewing experience.

    I agree.

I don't think the line was crossed here because only a relatively small number of people would notice.

My point was that the argument 'well, it's just fiction' cannot be used to excuse every piece of carelessness or departure from reality.

An interesting example is the programme 'New Tricks' where the BBC got an enormous number of complaints because London police officers on more than one occasion referred to their ultimate boss as 'The Chief Constable'.

    Indeed.

And anything with any scientific (or computer related) content is just about guaranteed to be riddled with inaccuracies but only those involved in the particular field will generally notice.

People are watching Eastenders expecting it to be realistic?

The place where no-one owns a washing machine, the place where the local pub hasn't closed down, the place where people come back from the dead, the place where every family is constantly in crisis?

    Really people, get a grip.
