Big Purchase Coming Up...

Just retired so we're going on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday and need to settle the travel agent's (big) invoice soon.
How should we pay the bill so as to to maximise returns from Rewards programmes?
Currently hold Amex Platinum (Charge card), British Airways Premium Plus Card (another Amex but a credit card) and an M&S credit card.
Should we use any one card specifically, or possibly spread the cost (and so get rewards) across all of them?

I'd ask the Travel Agent what the cost is first, most will charge for paying with credit card, some even for paying with a debit card.

If they come back with something like 3%, then it may not be worthwhile using a reward card.
  • Remember that you will get free full travel insurance through your Platinum card if you pay on one of your Amex cards.
