Can I protect my no claims whilst living abroad?
Hi all
I have full no claims (15 years plus) but have recently moved abroad, so sold my car and cancelled my car insurance.
I'm worried that when I come back in x years I'll lose my no claims bonus - is there any way of protecting them?
My sister (in the UK) has suggested having me added as a named driver on her policy and is going to try to find out if that would protect my no claims - does that sound like an option?
Or is there any other way to protect them?
Thanks!

It's normally 2 years.
Putting yourself as a named driver on another policy probably won't help1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
Insure a car (you intend buying) every 2 years, then (as the sale collapses) cancel the insurance during the cooling off period.
A new proof of NCD will be issued dated from the cancellation date.
(Look for the companies with the lowest cancellation fees)
(The named driver wheeze is a non starter)0 -
Do you not have a car and insurance in the un-named foreign country you are now in?
I managed to transfer my insurance within the EU.
You may be in the 'Land of far far away' of course.0 -
No, we have a lease car (we're in the UAE) so insurance is included in the price.0
