I had them in all my dry foods, e.g. pasta, rice, biscuits, absolutely everywhere in a cupboard and drawer, full of food. Needless to say, I chucked the lot then I thoroughly cleaned the cupboard and drawer using a spray disinfectant. You could see them running into the crevices so I had to keep cleaning till I was happy they had all gone. I replaced all my stuff but have been vigilant about putting them inside lock n lock type containers (they seem to be more effective than cheaper versions). I also read somewhere that weevils don't like bay leaves so I scattered them all around and haven't been bothered by them since. I really hate killing things but I couldn't have them in my food like that.
  • We had thrips everywhere recently, a cobweb on the window had hundreds on. I was finding them in every room.

    Cockroaches?

They come in all sizes, not just the 1" long variety and rice is one of the most common ways they are introduced to a home.

It would certainly explain why you're finding them in the places you are and that they're getting worse.

  • After some more image searching Iv found some that look the same on this blog which describes them was weevils http://home-remedies-recipes.blogspot.co.uk/2011/10/how-to-get-rid-of-pantry-pests.html

 oh god I really hope not! I'm successfully killing them by drowning them in the sink, would cockroaches survive in water?
  • It must be the year for bugs. I found my stock of pasta was infested with little brown beetles. They only went for the pasta though, the rice and noodles were fine.

I cleaned out the cupboard with a diluted solution of bleach and then vacuumed it out so I could get into all the crevices.

Touch wood so far they seem to have stayed away. We are also plagued with fruit flies as well this year. I have been vacuuming them up with the hoover pipe.

They don't look like weevils to me, weevils are more elongated aren't they? With little snouts.

Just googled and there is a family of 'bean weevils' that are differen't and don't have the snout/elongated body but can't find any to match yours at the mo

For fruit flies, leave a bottle of vinegar (or jar) open on the side. They'll all fly in and drown

  • I had a problem last year with little bugs in my flour and the flour cupboard, but they were almost flour colour. I read a tip to pop any flour products in a plastic bag in the freezer for 48 hours to kill any eggs (apparently all flour products potentially contain eggs). I also keep flour in Click Lock. I haven't had a problem since.

Sorry this doesn't help your immediate problem, but when you have solved this infestation I figure you wouldn't want another one!

I have them too (look exactly like the pic on the link)- and yes they seem to like weird things like a ceramic bowl on the windowsill! Going to bleach my kitchen tomorrow again! strangely I have found some in the bathroom tonight! My house is going to be subjected to a bleach fest tomorrow!
