I honestly don't think I can tackle it myself but my mum keeps wining about it so going to have to do something about it. How much roughly should i be shelling out for someone to fix our ball !!!! in the toilet?

It's a very easy DIY job as long as you can easily isloate the supply first. Tenner for the parts, maybe £40 labour. Most competent handypersons can do this job, you don't have to get a plumber.
Change the whole assembly, not just the float if it's leaking.No free lunch, and no free laptop

If it's just the ball valve then it should be fairly simple - if you're reasonably confident with DIY.
