Moving Direct Debit Dates

I'm trying to better manage my bank account and finances and want to move the dates of all my monthly direct debits so they are all paid within 7 days of my salary going into my account and then I can see how much money I have for the rest of the month. Is this possible? Is it just a case of contacting all the companies directly and negotiating a new payment date or is there a simpler way?

Thank you.

Yes just contact each company to see if you can alter the dates, most are obliging.

The other option is open a seperate bank account, have you salary paid into this each week/month and have a set amount transferred to the direct debit account to take care of the monthly bills. That way it doesn't matter too much when they go out.

Yes, it's entirely possible with the majority of companies. It's a case of contacting them and asking for the new date; the bank can't do it for you.

Some companies restrict which dates you can choose. Some companies, like Talk Talk, don't allow you to change, but you should find that the vast majority will be accommodating.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D
